BEST METHOD: Measure a Belt You Already Own

This is the most accurate way to find your belt size.

  1. Lay your existing belt flat on a table.
  2. Measure from the leather fold at the buckle to the hole you use most often.
  3. Round to the nearest even number.

Example: If the measurement is 37", order a size 38 belt.

At Bucking 90 Leather Co., the belt size represents the distance from the buckle fold to the center hole of the belt.

Our belts typically have five holes spaced one inch apart, so you have room to adjust two sizes up or down.

⚠️ THIS OPTION IS NOT RECOMMENDED ⚠️

ALTERNATIVE Method 2: No Belt? Measure Your Waist!

If you don’t have a belt to measure, this works great.

Steps

  1. Put on the pants you’ll wear with the belt most often (jeans, dress pants, rodeo pants, etc.).
  2. Run a tape measure through the belt loops like a belt would sit
  3. Pull it snug—not tight.
  4. Record that measurement in inches.

That number is your starting belt size.

All Bucking 90 custom belts are built so that your measurement lands on the middle hole.

  • 7 total holes
  • 1-inch spacing
  • Allows room to tighten or loosen as needed
  • Important Fit Notes

Please let us know if any of the following apply, as they affect sizing:

✅ Wearing a large trophy buckle

✅ Wearing the belt over chaps or layers

✅ Carrying a knife sheath or holster

✅ Wearing the belt at the waist vs hips

    • Note: If you are between sizes, size up.
  • What NOT to Measure

❌ Do not measure the full belt length end-to-end
❌ Do not measure from the outside edge of the buckle
❌ Do not guess based on pant size

❌ Sending a size without saying where you wear it

    • Note: only measure fold in leather → middle hole, as shown in the diagram above.

Western & Hand-Tooled Belt Sizing

Many of our custom hand-tooled and stamped belts are worn with large Western buckles. These buckles can add additional length to the front of the belt. If you plan to use an oversized trophy buckle or Western buckle, we recommend adding 1–2 extra inches to your measured belt size.

Example:

  • Measured size: 38
  • Large buckle adjustment: +1-2
  • Recommended belt size: 40

⚠️ Measurement & Custom Order Disclaimer ⚠️

Bucking 90 Leather Co. does not size belts based on pant sizes. Pant sizes vary by brand, rise, and fit and are not an accurate method for determining belt length.

All Bucking 90 belts are custom-made to the measurements provided by the customer. Because each belt is built specifically for you, all custom belt orders are final sale.

Bucking 90 Leather Co. is not responsible for incorrect fit resulting from measurements taken by the customer. It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure measurements are taken accurately and according to the guide provided.

Do not measure from tip to tip of the belt.

  • ALWAYS measure from the buckle fold to the hole you use most often on your existing belt.
