Best Method: Measure a Belt You Already Own

This is the most accurate way to size a custom belt.

What you need

  • A belt that fits you well right now
  • A tape measure (soft tape is best)

Step-by-Step: Measuring an Existing Belt

Step 1: Lay the Belt Flat

Lay your belt flat on a table or hard surface, straightened out with no twists.

Step 2: Measure to the Fold in the Leather

At the buckle end, locate the fold in the leather where the belt wraps around the buckle.

📏 Start your measurement at the fold in the leathernot the end of the buckle and not the tip of the belt.

(This point is shown in the image as “Measure to Fold in Leather”.)

Step 3: Measure to the Middle Hole

Follow the belt down to the middle hole (the hole you normally use or the center of the hole pattern).

📏 Measure from the fold in the leather to the middle hole only.

(This point is shown in the image as “Measure to the Middle Hole”.)

Step 4: That Measurement Is Your Belt Size

The distance from the fold in the leather to the middle hole is the Size of the belt.

✅ Example:

  • Fold to the middle hole = 36 inches
  • Your belt size = 36

No Belt? Measure Your Waist!

If you don’t have a belt to measure, this works great.

Steps

  1. Put on the pants you’ll wear with the belt most often (jeans, dress pants, rodeo pants, etc.).
  2. Run a tape measure through the belt loops like a belt would sit
  3. Pull it snug—not tight.
  4. Record that measurement in inches.

That number is your starting belt size.

All Bucking 90 custom belts are built so that your measurement lands on the middle hole.

  • 7 total holes
  • 1-inch spacing
  • Allows room to tighten or loosen as needed
  • Important Fit Notes

Please let us know if any of the following apply, as they affect sizing:

✅ Wearing a large trophy buckle

✅ Wearing the belt over chaps or layers

✅ Carrying a knife sheath or holster

✅ Wearing the belt at the waist vs hips

    • Note: If you are between sizes, size up.
  • What NOT to Measure

❌ Do not measure the full belt length end-to-end
❌ Do not measure from the outside edge of the buckle
❌ Do not guess based on pant size

❌ Sending a size without saying where you wear it

    • Note: only measure fold in leather → middle hole, as shown in the diagram above.
